FAQ
WHAT DOES CHORUS GIRL DANCING LOOK LIKE?
You can view performances from our previous Chorus Girl Academies here to get an idea of what we're all about!
WHO WILL BE TEACHING?
Lauren Kayda, the founder of Vintage Rhythm and director of The Rhythm Belles, will be leading this class series. Alissa Stock, also a current Rhythm Belle, will be helping to teach the class.
IS THIS CLASS FOR CHILDREN OR ADULTS?
Our Chorus Girl Academies are geared for adults but youth under 18 are welcome to join with parent consent (youth under 14 must be accompanied by an adult).
IS THE CHORUS GIRL ACADEMY ONLY FOR WOMEN?
People of all gender identities are welcome to participate. If you plan to perform with us, we do ask that you wear the designated performance costume.
WHAT WILL WE WEAR FOR THE PERFORMANCE & DO I HAVE TO PURCHASE IT?
The performance costume consists of a skirt (with shorts underneath), blouse, accessories (including a cane), sheer nylons or dance tights, and low heeled black shoes. You will need to provide your own nylons, low heeled black shoes, and possibly blouse (we'll let you know about the blouse as we get closer to the series). The rest of the costume will be provided for you.
WHAT COVID PRECAUTIONS ARE BEING TAKEN?
All participants must provide proof that they are up to date on their COVID vaccines according to the CDC's definition, which currently includes the new Omicron-specific bivalent booster that became available in mid-September 2023. Masks (N95, KN95, or KF94) may also be required depending on the current community level and recommendations by the Whatcom Health Department and the CDC at the time of the classes. We ask that participants not come to class if they are feeling ill. We also ensure that there is fresh air circulation in the dance studio.
*Note: General attendees of The Rhythm Belles and Cocktails event are not required to be vaccinated but there will be fresh air circulation in the venue.
